Terms of use (homeowners)
These terms apply if you are a homeowner using Climcove to get an air conditioning specification for your home. If you are an installer, different terms apply to you; installer terms are a separate document and have not been drafted yet.
Please read these terms before you use the service. By creating an account or completing a survey at app.climcove.com, you agree to them.
1. Who we are
Climcove Ltd ("Climcove", "we", "us") is a company registered in England and Wales (incorporation pending), company number [Company number], with its registered office at [Registered office address]. You can contact us at contact@climcove.com. Our websites are climcove.com (information about the service) and app.climcove.com (where you use the service).
These terms cover homeowners using the consumer service only. If you are an installer working with Climcove, separate installer terms apply to you; those terms have not yet been drafted.
2. What the service is (and is not)
Climcove is a self-service home survey, done on your phone, that takes about 15 minutes. It asks you questions about your home and, optionally, lets you add photos. From your answers it produces:
- a room-by-room air-to-air heat pump (air conditioning) specification for your home;
- an installed price band for that specification;
- running-cost estimates;
- an indication of whether a grant may apply to your installation;
- an indication of whether planning permission may be needed; and
- if you ask for it, a request for quotes sent to up to three installers that you choose, who quote against the specification we produce.
Climcove is an introducer. We do not install anything, we do not employ or directly control installers, and we are not a party to any contract you enter into with an installer. Any contract for installation work is between you and the installer alone.
3. Estimates, price bands, and the honesty rule
Everything Climcove gives you is an estimate, not a quote. The installed price for your job is always shown as a range, never as a fixed figure, because the true cost depends on things a phone survey cannot fully capture — the exact condition of your walls, wiring, roof space, and so on.
Our estimates are based on what you tell us and any photos you provide. If that information is incomplete or inaccurate, the estimate will be too. When an installer visits or surveys your property themselves, their assessment may differ from ours, and the price they ultimately quote may differ from the price band we showed you.
If your home is heated by gas, the service will tell you that switching to air-to-air air conditioning is unlikely to materially cut your heating bill. We show this because it is true, not because it suits us to say otherwise.
Any commission Climcove receives is disclosed on screen before you choose to proceed, so you can see how the numbers are made up.
4. How Climcove is paid
The service is free for homeowners. You do not pay Climcove anything to complete a survey, receive a specification, or request quotes.
Climcove is paid by installers, not by you: an installer pays Climcove a fee when they accept a specification you have released to them.
If you take out finance to pay for your installation, that finance is arranged by a lender or by the installer — not by Climcove. Where that happens, Climcove may receive a commission of around 2.5% of the amount borrowed from the lender. This commission, and the figure that applies to your job, is disclosed on screen before you make a decision.
Climcove does not arrange finance and is not authorised by the Financial Conduct Authority. Any finance figures shown on the service are illustrations only, not an offer of credit, and should be treated as such.
5. Installers
Before working with an installer, we check that they hold F-Gas (REFCOM) registration and public liability insurance, and we keep a record of when these expire. Beyond this, we do not vet, employ, or supervise installers, and we do not guarantee their workmanship, their availability, or the price they will ultimately charge you.
You choose up to three installers to receive your specification — we do not choose them for you. Your name, contact details, and full postcode are released to an installer only once that installer pays to accept your specification, not before.
Any dispute about workmanship, price, timing, or anything else relating to the installation itself is between you and the installer. Climcove is not a party to that contract and cannot resolve disputes arising from it, though we are always glad to hear if something has gone wrong so we can review who we work with.
6. Grants, planning, and finance
Any indication we give you about whether a grant may apply, or whether you may need planning permission, is just that — an indication, not a determination. Grant schemes and planning rules change over time, and eligibility depends on facts about your property and circumstances that we cannot verify through a phone survey.
You are responsible for confirming grant eligibility with the relevant scheme administrator, and for confirming planning requirements with your local planning authority, before relying on anything the service tells you.
The same caution applies to finance figures: they are illustrations, not offers and not advice. See section 4 above.
7. Using the service (your obligations)
To use Climcove, you must:
- be 18 or over;
- give accurate information in your survey answers;
- only survey a property you own, or are otherwise authorised to survey;
- not upload photos that contain images of people; and
- not misuse the service — including scraping it, accessing it through automated means, trying to access other users' data, or interfering with its security.
We may suspend or terminate your access if you break these rules.
8. Your content and our content
You own the photos and answers you provide to us. By using the service, you grant Climcove a licence to use them to provide the service to you — including running automated analysis on them and sharing them with the installers you choose to request quotes from.
Climcove owns the service itself, including the format of the specification we produce and the engine that generates it. You are free to keep your own specification and share it with anyone you like, including installers not introduced through Climcove.
9. Liability
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or for anything else that the law does not allow us to exclude or limit.
Subject to that, Climcove is not liable for:
- the work, pricing, quotes, or conduct of any installer;
- decisions you make on the basis of an estimate, price band, or indication we provide;
- losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you started using the service; or
- business losses.
Subject to the paragraph above, our total liability to you as a homeowner is limited to £100.
Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights as a consumer, including your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015.
10. Changes and availability
We may change or withdraw features of the service at any time, and we may suspend the service, temporarily, for security reasons.
We may update these terms from time to time. If we do, we will publish the new version on our website with the date it takes effect. If you carry on using the service after that date, we will treat that as your acceptance of the updated terms.
11. Privacy
How we handle your personal data is set out in our privacy notice at climcove.com/privacy, which forms part of these terms.
12. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales. Any dispute will be dealt with by the courts of England and Wales, though if you live in Scotland or Northern Ireland you may also bring proceedings in the courts of the country you live in.
As a consumer, your rights under the Consumer Rights Act 2015 apply regardless of anything else in these terms.
13. Contact
If you have questions about these terms, contact us at contact@climcove.com.
